Orecchiette with Radishes // Orecchiette con ravanelli

The other day I went grocery shopping with one goal, to buy purple cauliflower so I could make Consuelo's Mediterranean orecchiette with purple cauliflower. Well, it's easier said than done because when I don't need something, there's plenty of it, but when I need something, there's none of it.

Lentil Pasta with Hokkaido Pumpkin // Pasta di lenticchie con zucca Hokkaido

A while back, I saw lentil pasta on the store shelf and I was very curious to try it. I didn't buy it immediately, because I wasn't sure I was going to use it. But then I told myself that I love lentils and pasta isn't that bad either, also they are rich in protein, iron and fiber, so I'd definitely find a way to use them.

Legume Soup with Lacinato Kale and Mushrooms // Zuppa di legumi con cavolo nero e funghi

Snow has almost completely melted, but it's still pretty cold and I'm still in the mood for soups. So yeah, you're stuck with another soup of mine.

Quinoa Couscous with Cauliflower // Couscous di quinoa con cavolfiore

Something I love doing when it's too cold to leave the house is checking social networks. I arguably spend too much time on them, but sometimes they are quite useful. Last week, for example, I saw Eleni's quinoa and Romanesco broccoli couscous, and it was so appealing I had to try it. So I pinned the recipe, but I couldn't wait so I tried it straight away.

Savoy Cabbage with Raisins and Pine Nuts // Cavolo verza con uvetta e pinoli

With this weather, cabbages of all kind are pretty much the only vegetables I eat. Soups, pasta, rice, side dish, they fit pretty much everywhere. Sometimes I even add some in my morning oatmeal. I know, weird, still I love it.

Winter Barley and Adzuki Bean Soup // Zuppa invernale di orzo e fagioli adzuki

It has snowed for the past few days, and although we had worse days last week, it's pretty cold outside. That means I have all the time in the world to do my favourite things, those being watching movies, catching up on TV shows, reading and cooking.

Black Bean and Brown Rice Bowl with Vegetables and Egg // Bowl di fagioli neri e riso integrale con verdure e uovo

I'm a pretty weird person and as such I was terribly craving black beans the past week. And I badly wanted to make something Mexican, like a taco bowl or something, so I could use that pre-cooked corn I bought a while back.

Chestnut and Hazelnut Risotto // Risotto alle castagne e nocciole

I know a lot of people feel like doing absolutely nothing when it's cold. All I feel like doing, other than eating and drinking hot stuff, is cooking because that way the stove will keep me warm. And risottos are perfect for that since you have to stir often and keep an eye on it continuously.

Farro and Broad Bean Pasta with Brussels Sprouts and Chestnuts // Pasta di farro e fave con cavolini di Bruxelles e castagne

It's been a while since I last cooked and posted a pasta dish and the reason is very simple. Because of the holidays, the whole family at home, and my father being a pasta guy, whether dry or fresh and homemade, we had a lot of pasta for lunch. And being one of those people who get bored of things easily, I sure didn't spend my time in the kitchen making pasta.

Soybean and Lacinato Kale Soup // Zuppa di soia e cavolo nero

Snow finally came. I've been waiting for this moment since I started the blog last April because I wanted to try replicate Minnie's stew from Tarantino's "The Hateful Eight". I thought it'd be great to take photos with snow in background.

Savoy Cabbage with Chickpeas // Cavolo verza con ceci

I saw an interesting warm salad recipe on a magazine - I believe it was Confidenze - a while back, I cut it out and saved if for the day I would make it. That day has come. Well, kinda since that was a salad with chickpeas, spinach, anchovies and bread, while the dish I'm sharing with you today it's made with savoy cabbage and chickpeas.

Sesame Kale and Tofu with Lemon Rice Noodles // Cavolo riccio e tofu al sesamo con vermicelli di riso al limone

Believe it or not, but I needed a break from soups. Don't get me wrong, I still love them, but there are days when I feel like eating with chopsticks, and it's not very easy to eat a soup with those wooden things. Believe me, I've tried.

Beet and Beluga Lentil Soup // Zuppa di barbabietole e lenticchie Beluga

Happy New Year! I hope you have had a good start into the new year. Either way, I'm going it make it a little better with another soup of mine, this red and delicious beet and Beluga lentil soup.
